The only jump we were able to make over Västerås was from 2750 meters. This gave us a result in the competition, but the Swedish World Cup finals was cancelled since we didn't get 4000 meters. The measurement zone was reduced from 2700-1700 meters to 2200-1700 meters.
Christian Labhart (Switzerland) and Clare Murphy (England) won the overall World Cup series 2008.

One jump done
We met up at Aros DZ in Västerås and got one load in the air before the rain. We jumped from 3000 meters. We knew about the reduction in altitude before we went up, and we also decided to reduce the competition distance to 500 meters, between 2200 and 1700 meters.
Results after one jump:
359.17 Ken
349.46 Christian
341.81 Marco
329.90 Henrik
324.93 Oliver
319.03 Arnold
316.09 Clare
308.72 Roberto
307.47 Olli
260.34 Markus

Västerås it is!
I was informed today that we cannot jump in Gävle because they have a noise complaint deadline coming up and they don't want to stress their relationship with the neighbours...
We have investigated the possibility to jump over an airfield just north of Gryttjom, but it will be occupied by racing BMW:s...
So awaiting the board's information I have talked to the chairman of Aros Skydiving Club in Västerås. (http://www.fkaros.se/?lang=1). Västerås is a 140 km drive away from Gryttjom, it takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there. They have 2 Cessna Caravans and we are welcome to be there with the competition if we need to.
Aros Skydiving Club has basically the same facilities as we have in Gryttjom but we cannot expect to sleep there, because they have so few beds. So we really hope we can finish on Saturday, we probably do no twant to commute....
Also, Marco's flight (Oliver and Markus too?) leaves early on Sunday morning, so for you it may be best to actually try and stay over in Västerås (a much larger city than Tierp..)?
Jump prices are the same as in Gryttjom. And, I think they only take cards in the manifest there.
They start jumping at 9 am in Västerås, but we may aim at starting at 10, otherwise it will be a really early morning..
Let's talk more about this tomorrow evening, but until then, be prepared....
I am really sorry for all this, but we will try and do the best of the situation.
Cheers,
/Ann

Gryttjom has moved to Gävle, sort of...
Hi all speeders,
Due to heavy rainfall during Augusti, the runway at Gryttjom has become very soft - too soft for our heavy planes. So to avoid destroying the runway completely, the club has temporarily moved its activities to Gävle Airport, about 45 minutes drive north of Gryttjom. The decision to jump there has been taken on a week-to-week basis, based on the current status of the runway.
It has now been decided that we will be there also this weekend, when we arrange the World Cup in Speed skydiving.
We still have Gryttjom as our base camp; we sleep there (or nearby), eat breakfast there and have dinner there.
The aero club in Gävle has kindly opened their doors to us, and we can enjoy their facilities, although maybe they are not as well equipped as we are in Gryttjom. They do sell som coffee and sandwiches, but it is also possible to order lunch from the restaurant at Gryttjom (Makkara) who can make a lunch-box-to-go before we leave in the morning.
From a practical point of view this means an earlier start on Saturday morning, because as mentioned above it takes about 45 minutes to drive to Gävle. And we want to be ready to start jump at 10 am.
We had arranged with an extension of our jump hours until 22, if needed, but unfortunately that only applies to Gryttjom and therefore the jumping time will be 10-18 (as it would normally be).
The competition will be premanifested so I hope that if everything runs smoothly, we will still be able to finish the competition on Saturday (and have the price ceremony in the evening).
In any case, when you are all here we can decide together what to do depending on the situation.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Keep well, and see you soon!
